My Work

I describe my personal style as a mixture of contemporary and jazz with influences of commercial dance.

Within the realm of commercial dance, I believe in the aspects of a dancer with a strong stage presence, but with an equally strong technical background.  Growing up bouncing back and forth between competition studios,

ballet studios, and ballroom studios I have learned to be an adaptable and moldable dancer.  My training was a melting pot of experiences.

I thrive from working with song lyrics because music is the base for dance, and I want to create the visual for

the song. I see the lyrics as a storyboard for my movement. I want to teach dancers to be aware of their bodies and flow between fluidity and sharpness. I emphasize utilizing quick twitch muscles and syncopation that is very beat driven, within the

musical realm.

“3” depicts the emotions and qualities that different styles of ballroom dance create. I wanted to explore how the origins of ballroom dance affect the way the audience feels while watching. From the intense tango, the passionate rumba, and finally, to the energetic cha cha, each style presents its specialized qualities and creates reactions for those watching or dancing.

Idle In Indulgence

Solo: 4:30 minutes

Music by: Drake and Beyonce, Mine (instrumental); Rosalia, A Palé

Dancer: Lily Farrar

My piece is based on “La Noche de San Juan” which is the night of fire celebration in Barcelona, Spain. The premise of my piece is that I am just a tourist in the city, being an outsider looking into the culture. When there is a dynamic switch in the music that is a representation of myself dreaming that I am one of those Spanish dancers performing in the square. In the end, I wake up from the daydream and still admire the city and what it has to offer. The idea is to remember you can always make your wildest dreams your reality.
